Volvo Repair: 240GL Wagon Battery Backward, side kick panel, battery problem

Question
The battery in my 1986 was installed backward and the key turned.  Now there is no spark.  The main computer has been replaced with no improvement.  I also notice that the dash board lights do not work when the key is turned.  The simple things have been checked (fuses, etc) and the main computer was replaced first since it was most likely dead.  What is next?

Answer
Hello Karen,
Sorry to read about the battery problem...other electronic components may have been damaged....look inside car in pass.seat area...on floor area look on right side kick panel and remove it...you'll now see a computer that plays a part in creating spark...the E C U located on r/f fender can fail due to improper batt. installation.
Karen, other problems may occur...alternator may be ruined also(lights on dash that stay on.
Be SURE that all fuses are in good order...not corroded....use test light to know for sure if all fuses are ok.
          Good luck,
