Volvo Repair: volvo heater fan, volvo wagon, heater fan

Question
how does one go about replacing the heater fan in a 1979 volvo wagon. i am looking to buy one and the owner cites this as the only fault. also, is there a potential electrical problem (i.e. fuse, solenoid) that should be checked first? gracias

Answer
Hello Joel,
79 240 Volvo is one of my favourite models.
          Anyway,Joel I have some bad news...putting a heater motor in a 79 240 is very difficult.
I have done this job many times and it is a
          real pain of a job..
You are going to have to make a decision...is the car worth spending the 350 - 600 dollars to repair the heater...the car Must be really nice...no rust...nice interior...great tires..good exhaust...unscratched windshield..working tailgate and license plate lights
(IMPORTANT).
So Joel.its your call....if you are paying over
500 for this really nice 240...think longterm ownership...over 5 years...It was a good year for 240's

           Good luck,
let me know what you do.
