Volvo Repair: S70 Front Suspension Rattle, tie rod ends, s70 glt

Question
I have a 1998 S70 GLT with @ 100,000 miles on it. When I hit small potholes in the road or road repair I notice a rattle or a clunk sound from the front suspension. Any ideas of what it might be and how I might repair it myself?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

-Travis

Answer
Hello Travis,
It all depends upon what needs to be repaired...if its a tie rod end and you can handle mechanics ok you could do the job with little difficulty...there are 4 tie rod ends...they do wear out especially when car is used on dirt roads or bad pavement...other parts...bushings,suspension componants are more difficult to replace...have a smart mechanic tell you what you need...raising the front of ths car and check for ply in your front end.
             Good luck,
