Volvo Repair: OBD Available?, throttle position sensor, oil change interval

Question
I have a 1984 Volvo 244 DL.  I was looking for some way to identify the transmission in the car and happend to stumble across a disconnnected cable to the TPS, I always new it needed replacing so i plugged in the cable and the car ran worse than without the cable so was wondering why the Check engine light didnt come on if its equipped with OBD 1.

Well lemme know what model 3 speed transmission I have and whether or not the car is OBD 1 compliant.  If it is compliant then why didnt the check engine light come on. . . if it isnt compliant then I understand that theres probably no light for it other than the Oxygen Sensor light and Oil Change interval light.

Answer
Hi Keith,
Oil change interval light??..on a 84 240?hmmm..did I just learn something?
         Tranny is a AW 65.

            I don't know of a check engine light exists...in a 84 240.
84 240's had misc.electrical problems related to fuel pump rely.
No idea as to why the throttle position sensor is acting wierd....connect with another T P S and plug her in.
              Good luck.
