Volvo Repair: 95 Volvo 850 A/C, metal shavings, orifice tubes

Question
A/C not cold.  Brought in it to have charged and it worked for about 15 minutes, then it appears the r134a blew out of a pop-off valve on the compressor.  Would the expansion valve/orifice need replacement?  It seems to me that the high pressure cut off switch should have shut the system down before the pop-off valve on the compressor blew out the freon.  The entire system was serviced a year ago to replace the compressor.  Stopped working about a month later, for the same problem.  Volvo says they rarely replace the orifice tubes, most of the time they say it is the compressor. They want 300 dollars just to do a re-charge!

Answer
without seeing it I can not say for sure.sounds like it is overcharged with too much freon.I doubt this blowing out the over pressure port is caused by a bad orifice tube.not cooling could be a clogged tube especially if a compressor was replaced for being siezed, because then it could be clogged with metal shavings. it could also be clogged with material from the accumulator.
