Volvo Repair: S80s vs. V70s, rear driveshaft, v70 awd

Hi Regis:
I'm looking to upgrade from my 740 series to something a bit newer.  My question(s) are:
- Between an S80 and V70, which would you recommend for a)comfort and b)reliability?  
- What year model would you recommend and why?   I need FWD at least, for the upcoming winter and was thinking about the AWD feature.
- Which model would you recommend with price being the primary concern? I.e. less than $10K.

I would get the V70 AWD cross country say 2001 or newer.stay away from the 99 -2000 s80.best bet in any of them would be get a 2002 or newer.earlier than 2002 I would say there are more problems in both models.

ok now factoring in that price range.I would look for a 98-2000 v70.I am not sure I would want a AWD in this year they had some problems with driveshafts which can be expensive.some you could get just the end cv joint for the rear driveshaft others needed a whole new shaft which is expensive.
