Volvo Repair: Hard starting, yellow labels, vacuum line

Question
-Hi Patrick, I checked what you asked for, I belive I have and LH, this what I have. Top front of motor right at the end of the injector rail there is some type of device that has a yellow out lined Volvo sticker on it. It also has a vacuum line attached to it from the throttle body. this device is connected to the injector rail and has a line coming out of the back of it also. There is no black and silver barrel shaped device at the air filter. There is a AMM in the line attached to the air filter you can disconnect the wires from the meter. When you look in side the tube you can see a small meter in the tube. My other question is if it were electrical would it only be hard to start after it sits over night, because once you start the car I don't have any problems with it the rest of the day. It just seems like it not getting the gas, it cranks and cranks then starts to catch then fires right up. and runs like a top.
If this helps printed on a sticker is engine B203F, engine family LVV 2.3 V5 FR88. Quick update this morning I started the car same problem only this time it starts idling at about 3k, I hit the gas peddle to knock it down and then it went from 1600 to 2200 pulsing up and down and the check engine light came on.
Thanks for your help I hope I gave you the info you need if not just let me know and I will try again.
Thanks Burt

Hi Patrick, I have a 1990 740 wagon, recently when the car sits over night or for more than 5 hours it cranks over and over and over before it starts almost like it's not getting gas. Once it starts it runs find no stalling or anything, you can shut it off restart it and it starts right up.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Burt,  Well there are only two things that can cause this ,no fuel or no ignition. I need to know if she is LH  jetronic or Regina/Rex fuel system. If she is R/Rex there will be 'yellow' labels on some engine componant. The first and most noticible is the fuel pressure regulator, its top front of the engine. If is LH jetronic it will have a Air mass meter,a barrel shaped silver and black device at the air filter. Let me know. Thanks and good hunting!  PKD

Answer
Hello Burt,  The devise with the 'yellow'stiker is the fuel pressure regulator. Now the 'yellow' label denotes the Regina/Rex system.Sounds like you have a couple of things 'ganging up' on you.Your engine has a 'speed sensor' it located on top of the trans housing.Follow the wire up to its connection,if it has a 'yellow painted band on the wire, it is the original one. They were known to fail, the new issue has a 'white'painted band. There is also a relay under the hood that controls the fuel injectors,it should be replaced if its 8/10 yrs old. Its on the coolant bottle bracket. The last part of the puzzle is that the fuel pump, which is in the tank, had wire problem at the pump itself, under the 'resin'seal that you can not repair. The pump/sender unit needs to be replaced.Let me know!  Thanks,  PKD
