Volvo Repair: power windows on 92 240, central locks, acting this way

Question
-------------------------
I found the relay and replaced it but it did not fix the problem,  either the relay I tried to replace it with is faulty or it is related to the original power source.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mike

My power windows have been acting up, they either all work or none work at all.  It has been acting this way for about 6 months.  I have check the fuse and replaced.  I suspect it is the power going to the window.  Is the most likely candidate the relay the power window.  I found an online parts store that sells the relay.  Where is it located?  Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Mike It sound like the relay is showing her age.Its on the pass.sd.of the center console, top area. Don't let the white relay fool ya thats the over-drive relay this one is next to that. Red wire ,blue/yellow wire, brown wire and a black wire will be your relay.Thank you and good hunting!  PKD

Answer
Hello Mike,  The ground pt. for the window relay,is at the top ,left and right corners of the center console.Other system grds.are there too, central locks,a/c relay,over-drive relay. If no problems from any of those system,I next look for simply loose connections. There is always with, electrical parts, a degree of risk of condition.Take the cover off the original relay and manually activate it to check the rest of the system for proper op..If they all work, then I would be sure the relay is getting a good grd. and current,if you do,then the relay is failed.Let me know. Thanks PKD
