Volvo Repair: overheating, volvo engine, volvo drivers

Question
I purchased my daughter a 1989 240 volvo.  She is living in New York and I am living in Georgia.
The car has been overheating for several weeks but the person she asked to repair it has not fixed it yet.  It finally quit on her and had to be towed.  Is the engine possibly gone?

Answer
Hello Chris,  Since the engine has been stressed repeatedly, my instinct says 'most likly',yes. The volvo engine in that car is very stout, get her to the dealer to 'know for sure' the fee will be worth it.Have you daughter talk to other volvo drivers for any recomendation of repair shops. We are a friendly bunch and will help a fellow driver whenever possible.Thank you and good hunting!  PKD
