Volvo Repair: fuel system, chevy vega, tank level

1989 240dl volvo acts like it's running out of gas replaced the out side fuel pump cleaned the injectors. fuel pump not pumping till the motor is turning over & not keeping pressure in the fuelrail after it's off/

Hello Robin,  First off,to check fuel pump 'electricals',just 'bump' the key to start.You should hear the outside pump buzzzz for 2/3 second and stop.That good.Pump not holding pressure,thats not good.Don't overlook the 'in-tank pump' it 'feeds' the outside pump.If the 'joiner hose leaks (and its located at 1/2 tank level) you will feel like its 'running out of gas'.The pump type used is the same as a chevy vega fuel pump. I KID YOU NOT. Its cost a whole lot less. when you take it out look for the familiar A/C embossed on the pump.Thank You and good hunting!  PKD
