Volvo Repair: Electrical problem, electrical problem, dimmer switch

Question
Recently bought a 245 -86 and have problems with the lightning of the instrument panel. I took it out to check if there was a problem with the dimmer, and then noticed that it wasn't attached at all. Now, there are four cables hanging loose. 1 white/grey, 1 brown, and 2 white/red-striped. One of the white/red-striped I think goes should go to the rpm-meter, but what about the other one?

The clock doesn't get any current either. I have tested it and it works fine.

Hello carl,  First off,one of those red/wht wires is for the clock,only the correct wire will fit.The dimmer switch has probably failed and the previous owners just disconnected it.The wht/gy wire and brn go to the dimmer.Thank You and good hunting!  PKD
