Volvo Repair: S70 Power Window Switch, power window switch, plastic assembly

Question
Hello,
I drive a 1998 S70 with lots of miles. Today I rolled down my driver window and now I cannot roll it back up. The when I pull the button up it does not give the same resistance as the other buttons, so I am 99% sure that the problem is that the button is no longer attached to whatever mechanism is activated by pulling the switch up. I have tried to fix the problem myself by unscrewing the screw in the indention in the armrest on the door but I cannot remove the plastic assembly from the door. I have tried to take the entire inner part of the door off, but it is secured at the top. My door is coming apart and I have tried to fix the problem by reaching inside the door panel, but all I can get to there are bunches of wires.
Do you have any advice for how I can get at the switches or at least roll my window back up before I take it to a repair shop? I get the feeling that I could pry out the plastic part with enough muscle, but I would like to know if there is a better way.
I really appreciate any help you can give.

Answer
Hello Neal,  Well first of all the switch pack is to be replaced. The best way is to take the door panel off.Push the whole switch pack up from from behind.Any other way WILL ruin the door panel. As far as getting the window back up is to finecse the switch, that is to operate the switch till the glass goes up.Its a 'once in the lifetime' repair and the part is about$160.00.I would just put some plastic around the openning and replace the switch.Bang-zoom.Thank you and good hunting!  PKD
