Volvo Repair: front end noise, inner fender, dirt roads

Question
when i turn the steering wheel ,after a certain point there is a noise ,(but not like when you have a leak in axle boot)it just feels like something  is dry,lately i park my car on a dirt road due to my job!before that i still had the problem but now it is louder!
  and is there a place that i can find 2nd hand air pump  for c70-98   thanks  a lot!!

Hello Mehmet,Your front end has what are called 'sterring stops',they limit the turnning of the wheels to prevent the tires from rubbing the inner fender.We lube them with 'anti-sieze' type grease to quiet the contact points.They are located on each front wheel in front of the ball joint area.Dirt roads will render ineffective in time,ie.dries it out cakes up and falls away.AS for the air pump,used ones are un-reliable due why they fail.Water damage,due to location,Its what I refer to as a' once in the lifetime repair'.Also, the Park/neutral switch is accessable w/pump repair.If it has not been replaced and you have 60/70k miles,its good to replace together.It will save you 'check engine' lite and shift-ability problems down the road.Thanks again and good hunting!  PKD
