Volvo Repair: replace rear disc brake Volvo S70, disc rotor, rear rotors

Question
Can you provide instructions for replacing the front and rear rotors and pads on the volvo S70 1999. WHen I attempted the rear brakes, I was unable to remove the disc after removing the 2 bolts supporting the brake caliper and the 1 bolt that goes through the disc rotor. It felt like something else needed to be done. What am I missing? I found a volvo 850 manual that mentioned loosing the emergency brake so I tried that too but still was unsuccessful

When I pulled on the disc it didn't seem to be rust holding because I was able to pull the disc away about 1/4 inch.  But, it snapped back in place.

Answer
Hello Brandan,  Form what I read there is not much left, however, first I'd want to know what go your attention in the beginning. In my VW days the brakes were all shoes and springs and when adjusting brakes we always tapped the backing plates to help "settle" the springs. This may help you here. The springs could be hanging up.Also the hand brake lever should have 3/7 clicks. If that doesn't result, strike the rotor area not the pads area. You have the book.take you time.use jackstands and try to work with a pal. thank you and good hunting !
