Volvo Repair: volvo s70 a/c, blow dries, dye test

Question
my 2000 S70 (75,000 miles) has an A/C leak.  Dye test shows leak in evaporator.  Unit holds pressure enough to be charged but leaks down to poor performance in 10 days or so heavy use.  Rather than a $1000+ replacement, is there a good leak sealer I can try without damaging system?my 2000 S70 (75,000 miles) has an A/C leak.  Dye test shows leak in evaporator.  Unit holds pressure enough to be charged but leaks down to poor performance in 10 days or so heavy use.  Rather than a $1000+ replacement, is there a good leak sealer I can try without damaging system?

Answer
Hello Stuart,  The repairs you need are not uncommon,at those miles we started seeing it develope. If you are to sell the car, don't do anything. This a command decision,"How much do I love My Volvo?",Once she is repaired,I suggest having volvo's "Afterblow system" installed. It takes about an hour to put in and cost about $70.00,well worth it,heres why.The system turns on the blower motor on ,50 min.after you turn off the engine. It will run for 5 min. at high fan. This esentially blow dries the evapoator so moisture won't settle and corrode. It won't happen all the time, only if the a/c has been On for at least 5min.I have one on my 2K S-70 and 60K miles it went on 2001. thank you and goo hunting. As for the sealer find out via 800#s what manufacture liabilities are if any.I've not used them.Only"solder seal"in the radiator if the federalies are chaseing me. thank you and good hunting!
