Volvo Repair: 2000 Volvo S80 minor speed changes, volvo s80, 2000 volvo s80

Question
When driving the vehicle with cruise on or off I notice a very subtle change in speed. I have checked the trans fluid and that seems to be good. My other thought was the fuel filter, I have 82,000 miles on the vehicle.

I have two dealers in the area. Are repair costs fixed by Volve or is there a difference from dealers.

Answer
Could be a problem with the throttle actuator.  That car doesn't use a throttle cable it uses drive by wire.  There is a pedal sensor that tells a motor how far to open the throttle body.  A dealer could tell you if its malfunctioning or not.  An independent shop couldn't because all the signal communication is done over a network system that only the volvo diagnostic computers can read.  Thats the only thing i can think of that would cause it.  If it onlt does it once in a while, wait til it happens more consistently before you take it.  It will save you trips to the dealer because the tech can only fix it if he sees the problem.  It happens all the time I'll get a car for a complait that isn't actually happening when I get the car.
