Volvo Repair: Power Steering, EPS, vadis volvo, satellite uplink

Question
Hi,
I just ordered a T5 S40, with Sport Suspension.
Per chance, would you know if, or how, one can get different steering assist parameters downloaded into the EPS module so as to lessen the amount of power assist & give more road feel?
In Volvo technical literature it is mentioned that different parameters are available for "different car variants" via software.  Thus what I want must be available.  Do you have any suggestions for me as to how to get this?
Thank you very much if you give my desires any time!
Have a Great Day,
Steve V.

Answer
Any software for a car is downloaded via VADIS (volvo aftermarket diagnostic and information system).  Its the computer system the shop uses for diagnostics.  It also has a satellite uplink to sweden where all the software database is.  So you have to go to a dealer (or independent shop for volvos that purchased that equipment) to get any software options downloaded.  There are other options they can program too at the same time (some require purchase of software and others don't).  YOu can get seat heater temps, amount of mirror darkening for rearview light, blower speeds for automatic mode, and much more.  Talk to your service advisor and they can educate you on all the options you can have programmed for you car.  Hope that helps.
