Volvo Repair: 98 XC V70, sway bar links, power steering rack

Question
250 MILES LEFT ON WARRANTY (86K TOTAL). TIMING BELT MECHANICAL TENSIONER BROKE, WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER $2,500 IN REPAIRS SINCE TENSIONER NOT COVERED OR RELATED DAMAGE. NOW, POWER STEERING RACK AND PUMP IS BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, LOWER SWAY BAR, ETC. NEW RADIATOR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHAT OTHER MAJOR PARTS (INCLUDING TRANSMISSION) CAN BE CHECKED OR TESTED BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRES?

Answer
Things to have inspected:

Turbo coolant and oil lines -prone to leaks
Trans fluid condition - possibly need a flush
Sway bar links
Engine mounts - Particularly the top one.  Dealers will only recommend this repair if YOU are paying for it.  Warranty will cover it but they break so often that they only replace it warranty if you complain about it.

Those are the big things that you should get checked while it is free but if you have no other complaints with the car then you are probably good to go.  Typically the car will get a once over everytime its in for sevice.  Just specifically ask for those things to be checked because they will only do it if you ask them.  Hope that helps.
