Volvo Repair: Volvo S80 spline belt install, power steering pumps, volvo s80

How do I work the spline belt tensioner to get my spline belt on my S80. I pryed the old one off to install a new alternator.

Answer
The tensioner has a nut on it in the center of the pulley.  Put a long combination wrench on it and pull towards the front of the engine (clockwise).  It has alot of srping pressure on it so it will take a good pull to get it all the way forward.  This will loosen the tensioner and allow you to slide the belt one.  It will be easiest if you put the power steering pumps pulley on last since it is on top.  Good luck.
