Volvo Repair: brake light, brake light switch, fuse panel

Question
I have a 1988 240GL  My brake lights do not come on .I have checked the fuses, bulbs and the brake switch. Is there any other reason they might not work. all the other lights are working fine.

Answer
From beginning to end the electrical ciruit will go like this:

Power from the battery - through battery cable/fusible link - fuse panel bus bar - fuse - wiring to brake switch - brake switch - wiring to bulbs - bulbs - wiring to ground - ground connection

If any one of those thing is open then the brake lights will not operate.  To isolate it start in the middle.  Check for wire continuity from the brake light switch to battery, and then brake switch to ground.   Right there you cut the circuit in half and know which side to work on because one will be very close to 0 ohms while the other side will be infinite (open).  The open side is the one thats broke.  Just do that over and over again until the open has been isolated and you've found your problem.  If you know how to use an ohmeter you can definitly do this yourself.  Good luck! Hope this helps.
