Volvo Repair: 1998 Volvo S70 (non-turbo) ignition, volvo s70, 1998 volvo s70

Question
I am the original owner of a 1998 Volvo S70 non-turbo sedan with 112,000 miles on it. Car is now parked in my driveway and I am unable to insert key in ignition, and therefore cannot move the car.  Is there any way for the owner to remove the mechanical portion of the ignition to have an authorized Volvo dealer check it out?  Electrical portion is fine. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated! Happy New Year!

Answer
you would need to remove steering wheel and steering column covers and SRS contact reel and then drill out the sheer bolts (these are bolts that the heads sheer off when tightened so all that is left is a rounded piece ) to remove the lock assembly.then you would have to remove the electrical part from the lock assembly and plug it in to the harness it plugs into and turn the electrical part with a screwdriver to start the car.not an easy job will need drill with easyouts to remove bolt.
