Volvo Repair: Volvo 240 wont start.., fuel pump relay, fuse box

Question
Hi, I had my 1986 240 for 3 years.. Always well maintained.. I checked the forum for advice on this but didn't find anything. My car was running fine until last Wednesday when there was freezing rain all night long. For some reason the next morning, the car started like 1/2 second then died. The starter is fine.. My concern now is how can I do an easy test to know if the fuel pump is working properly? If I just dismount the fuel pump relay, wich I saw the topic on where to find it on passenger's side, is it going to piss fuel if the pump is working correctly? When I put the key at pos. 2, I don't hear any noise coming out of the gas tank pump neither from the one below the car on driver's side, back seat level.. I've never replaced the pumps so far, just the fuel filter, so I suspect it can be the problem here. I also checked of course my 4th fuse (gas pump fuse) and it's correct. What I don't understand is that the day before, I ran my car without a glitch, parked it for the night in my backyard then nothing the next day.

Thanks

Answer
first if ther eis no noise from under the car if you crank it over for one second then stop I would first check the fuses for corrosion in the fuse box and the fuse under the hood.there is a fuse under the hood near the power steering resevoir.follow the small red wire from the battery to the fuse.if this fuse or holder looks dirty I would replace the fuse and holder.if this all looks aok I would replace the fule pump relay.
