Volvo Repair: Volvo 740/940 Third Seat, volvo 740, seat belts

Hello,

I just got a third seat for my 1994 940 Turbo wagon.  I have no problem installing the seat, and believe I know where to install the 3 points of each seat belt (although I have not attempted to remove the side panels yet and would appreciate any tips you think I'll need).  

The seat belts are completely wound (fully retracted) and I cannot figure out how to extend them.  I have anchored the retractor and tried tugging, twisting, wiggling, jerking, pushing, pulling, smacking and screaming at them.  Nothing I try has been able to release the catch and allow them to extend.

I would try to see if the local dealer has a copy of the instructions or refer to another vehicle if possible to see where they mount.the part that holds the belt to the wheelwell area I just push on the carpet near where the side panel meets the wheelwell and feel for an indent then I use a punch to make a hole in the carpet than I install ythe bolt through the hole and start it by hand.instructions will be the best guide many mechanic save old installation instructions they may be able to provide a copy of them.

as for getting the seat belts out best way is to mount them where they mount in the car then pull them out.they have to sit in the exact position they were made to be mounted in for the belt to pull out.
