Volvo Repair: Volvo V70s, timing belt tensioner, volvo v70s

Question
Thanks for the quick response.   We do have 2/3 months of potentially dangerous weather here (RI), which is why I was leaning towards the AWD.   But is there a particular REASON why you would prefer the 850s over the v70s?

Thanks,KW

Answer -
the 95-96 850 would be a good car turbo or non turbo.both equal in reliability. If I were getting a V70 all wheel drive I would probably look for a 1999, or 2000 model.unless you are in winter area of snow I would not even get the all wheel drive.MY first choice would be either a 95-97 850 second a V70 or s70 98-2000.

Answer
less problems in the 850.not many less though.common items that go bad on both, evaporator,ABS control unit, oxygen sensor,.s70 also has problem with the oil pump pickup Orings in the oil pan causing low oil pressure, and on 99 anbd later s,v70 have manual timing belt tensioner that can break causing head damage and problems with the electronic throttle body which is expensive.
