Volvo Repair: air conditioner system, r12 freon, volvo 740 gle

Hello, after a few years without using the air cond. on my 86-volvo-740-GLE....it does not work anymore and lately is blowing warm air when I turn on the ventilation ////what should I check it?   Thanks for your attention.

You've probably develpoed a leak in the system. If AC is not periodically used, it can lead to the seals drying up and causing a leak. Not something for do-it-yourselfer. Recommend bringing to shop and have ac system leak tested and charged. Need special equipment for this job.

Also would recommend converting to R134 system because the old R12 freon has already been phased out and R-12 freon is VERY expensive. Depending on who you talk to, every shop has different procedure. Conversion is very easy with just new fittings, recommend a new filter-drier and adding the proper oil in system and recharging with new R134 freon.
