Volvo Repair: Service Reminder Display for 2002 S 80 T 6, service reminder, trip odometer

Question
I have used the procedure described on the web for resetting the service reminder without success. Method I am using is:
Turn ingition key to position I
Press trip odometer on Trip 1 (goes to 0.0 and then the accumulated mileage)
Turn key to position II-wait and wait (I have tried holding for 10 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, 60 sec)

I am not getting any beeps or flashes from the reminder display.

Anything I should try? Is this the correct method for a 2002? Dealer has been less than cooperative on the subject.

below is my explaination of how to reset the light.the only other think is instead of the service light flashing you may see the triangle flash or the tripmeter will either go from 1st setting to 2nd setting or from 2 to 1.this will indicate the light has been reset.


turn the ignition key to position 1 then press and hold the tripometer reset button then turn the key to position 2.hold the button til the service light flashes 2 times then release the button and then turn the key to off position.
