Volvo Repair: Volvo 2000 S80 A/C, resevoir, sw florida

Question
Hello Regis. I'm trying to recharge my A/C with oil and freon. I went to the auto parts store such as Murrays and Pepboys to buy A/C recharge kit but the female adapter that comes with the kit does not fit the A/C service port in my Volvo. Is there anything available out there or do you know a place where I can get the proper adapter kit or tools in order for me to recharge my A/C with oil and freon. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance. Have a nice day and regards to you and your family. May you be safe and protected by our Good Lord at all times.

Answer
if it is a 134a adapter it should fit.be sure you are on the right port.the easy one to get to at the front of the enine area is the high side and this should never be used to charge the system when it is running or it may damage the compressor.the low side port is down below the power steering resevoir.between the front timing belt cover area and the resevoir.it is easier if you lift the resevoir out of the way.to do this you need to insert a small screwdriver into the tab that holds it to the coolant resevoir and pry the tab over while lifting the resevoir.then you can get to the fitting.thanks for the blessing we need it here in SW Florida.hit by 2 hurricanes and looking at number 3.
