Volvo Repair: Dashboard lights & Rear Tailgate Lights, dashboard lights, rear tailgate

My dashboard lights won't illuminate, and the left tail light does not light up all the way.
The right tail light is not lighting up all the way either.  I've changed the bulbs, and when purchased the vehicle, 1985 244 gl, I had to purchase a new tail light. ($125)

Should be two problems here.
Dashlights not working is usually due to bad rheostat (dimmer switch). Need to remove and check for voltage there.

The tail lights is either a bad connection in the plug or the ground wire is not secure or dirty. tighten the connector by removing and crimping the plastic together for tighter fit.
