1985 244dl repaired wiring harnes cracked wires all over, ran great 6 months, over heated found craked hose, shortly after car wount run only if i pump gas pedel constantly, compression check-in spec, continuity check all wires from ECU good, air control valve not vibrating or humming but does in my 1989 325i bmw werd, air mass 3.4 ohms close 3.5-4.0, coolant temp new, tps good, wile working on car main relay went out fuel pump not working replaced relay with used one, think ECU and or air valve might be bad ?

Answer
If you have spark, check for gas by removing spark plugs and see if they are wet. Check fuel pump pressure, make sure gas tank is at least 1/2 full. Last thing to check after all basics are covered is air mass sensor. I've never been able to confirm its operation by testing with volt and ohm readings. The only thing is to replace if you suspect it.

If the car does start but just won't idle, I don't think the ecu would do it. As far as air valve is concerned, try turning out the screw to raise idle.
