My car was in an accident and I have to replaced the radiator and fan shroud.  I have removed these parts and now think i should also replace the condenser.. I don't know if it was damaged but condensers are not expensive and since all the other parts are removed it becomes any easy operation.  My question is how do i evacuate the system so i can remove the condenser.  since the car is in my garage with most of the nose removed, i can't bring it to a repair shop..Also, can you tell me how to recharge the system, assuming i can change the condenser myself.. thanks
Answer -
condenser needs replacement only if it leaks. You didn't mention that it was damaged or not.

Your car uses R134 freon. The right way to evacuate is with machine and also to be recharged the same way. You would need a manifold gauge set with the proper fittings and you also must be aware of the proper charge and proper pressure readings.. Definitely not a do-it-yourselfer. System under high pressure and can cause injury.

Thanks, your answer was good and to the point.  As far as i can tell the condenser is not leaking but i'm not sure how to tell.  I guess when i start the car and run ac i will know.  Also, replacing it when everything is back together doesn't look that difficult.  If i have to, i can take to repair shop for evacuation and back for recharge.

Answer
If your condenser was damaged from the accident, there should be wet residue around the damaged area. If none is visible, just put it all together and just turn on the ac to see if it works.

If you are going to replace the condenser, be sure to replace the filter/drier which is a must to provide cold cooling,
