Volvo Repair: 1990 740 190,000 miles noise, torque converter, noise down

Question
I have been experiencing a continuous growling noise for
the past few days. When I stop at a light or a stop sign,
then accelerate there is a stronger growling noise or almost
a grinding that follows.  This will usually continue until I
take my foot off the accelerator, when i put it back on the i
hear the original slight growling noise.  I took it to a shop
and they first fixed the muffler hanger and told me the
front strut arm bushing is very weak, but didn't change it.
It seemed to help quiet the noise down some but it still
persists. I was wondering if you though replacing the arm
bushing would help at all, and if their price to replace both
font strut bushings, 250$, was reasonable.  I originally felt
that there was something wrong with the torque converter
or the transmission, and hope you could either rule this out
or let me know some symptoms of what would happen if
either of these need work.  Thank you for your help.

Answer
there are really many things that can cause a noise. without hearing the noise I really can not give any ideas as to the problem.I do not feel the bushings will help with this noise.the price sounds reasonable.I would have someone els look at it the dealer if possible or a good mechanic familiar with volos.
