Volvo Repair: Rear Suspension, rear shocks, penetrating oil

Question
Thank you for your time. I own a 1993 240 DL 242,000k + and in the process of restoration, replacing the rear shocks, could not remove one of the bolts on the left(driver) side. Passenger side was easy, but my question is Do these bolts commonly freeze up, and how do I fix it with out cutting the bolt. Car was always serviced at the dealership, but never had any suspension work done. Is there a way to remove this with out beating it into the frame with the 10lb hammer. Note I'm not a real mechanic, just bought a parts car and know alot about the workings of the 240. Thanks, Mark.

Answer
no I have not seen them freeze up before.you could try spraying it with penetrating oil but I do not think you can reach the area where the welded nut is on the car body.hitting the bolt with a hammer may loosen it somewhat if it is rusted.you could try having a garage look at it and see if they could just break it loose for you.
