Volvo Repair: Trouble to start!, coolant temperature sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor

Question
Hi! I own 1988 780 Volvo, I had a terrible time with my car becasue everytime I go somewhere I had to wait couple of hours to start the car. it's will start after two or three hours. My brother in law is a volvo mech himself and he couldn't figure what wrong with it. I do like the car but I can not go somewhere that can start right up when in five min. I was wonder if there any suggest or thought u might come up .. It would help me and I can tell my brother in law. It's will start after couple of hours but not in few min where I can go and come back to be able to start. Please advise anything thanks, Michael

Answer
it could be a problem in the fuel pump check valve or a problem in the engine coolant temperature sensor.it could also be a nother component that is affected by heat.it all depends if there is no fuel or ignition when it does not start.unfortunately there is no easy answer other than to be able to fault trace the fuel and ignition system when it fails to start.
