Volvo Repair: 1995 volvo 960 wagon inside ambient temperature gage., temperature gage, power steering hose

Question
Up to a couple of weeks ago, the digital ambient temperature gage was working telling me the approx. temperature outside. Now it is constantly showing what seems to be -188. I just bought the 960 wagon a few months back and would like to keep everything in working order. Please advice on what to do.

Also, I just had my mechanic replaced the high pressure power steering hose and it doesn't seem to be the same as the old one. I think the replacement hose was an after market one. It seems to work fine. Should I be concern that it is not factory equipment?

Please advice. Thank you.

Answer
the sensor is located outside the car under the front of the car it will be attached to an airguide under the front end.it may be broken or the wires may be damaged.I have not seen one display this number before so I can not say for sure the exact problem

as long as the hose works ok I would not worry about it
