I have a 1994 Volvo 850 Wagon and my Air Conditioning doesn't produce cold air.  The blower puts out air, but its not cold.  When I turn on the AC and look under the hood, I see that the unit is cycling on and off every 4-5 seconds, but does not stay on.  I would like to fix this problem myself to avoid extra auto repair costs, but I want to make sure that it is something I can handle.  Thanks for your help.

You shoudl be sure about AC gas level, it is okay?
After that I think your compressor (AC pump) starts to work but then stops 4-5 sec.s later, so it is defective I think.
Remmove it and give via a battery current to it and look if it is work or not, if it is not work, try to find a repairer shop for that unit, if you can, it will be less expensive, otherwise you will need to replace it with new one.
