Volvo Repair: 1988 240 DL Oil Pan gasket replacement, pan gasket, engine bell

My 1988 240 DL has a slow leak. I traced it to the oil pan gasket (AFT side). Per my repair manual, it sems I have to remove the "Engine Bell Housing" to get to the pan aft bolts. But, How do I get to the bolts on the FWD of the pan? Also, How heavy is the bell housing and how involved is to re-install it? The repair manual lack this information. Any information will be appreciated

they are only talking about the lower cover on the bell housing which is 6 14mm bolts.the front ones you need to remove the splash pan.I would try a different repair manual.a different one may have better information with some pictures that may help in the process.
