Volvo Repair: re: difficult to start, sparkplugs, tail pipe

Once the car started is o.k. But if the car is left for an hour or more it have to crank for a while before the engine run and it seems like for the first few seconds some smoke coming from the tail pipe and the engine is rough.
I have a 740gl, automatic, 1989 with 180K

Hello philip,
There is one clue in your writings it is important, it is that there is some smoke and engine is rough. That means (smoke & rough), there is more fuel less air than it should be. So, I recommend you to check the sparkplugs and injectors. They may have problem. Also, I recommend you to clean the injectors. Also, please check the Engine Cooling Temperature sensor, because the problem occures after one hour or more when the engine stops.
