Volvo Repair: base idle, volvo 240 wagon, thumb screw

Question
Hello sir, I am also a master tech but with domestic vehicles. A good friend of mine has a '87 Volvo 240 wagon and I'd like to know the base idle setting. It seems that someone has been adjusting it. I found a defective throttle switch and would like to put the throttle plate back where it belongs. Many thanks.

Answer
first I would remove the throttle body and clean it.also remove the black knob and clean inside there also and the knob then loosen the throttle switchwith the switch loose loosen the set screw for throttle stop then lossen the throttle stop all the way off so it does not hit the linkage, then flip the throttle a few times, then turn the screw till it just touches then turn another 1/4 turn then tighten the nut.then adjust the throttle switch so you hear a click just as the throttle moves off the stop then set the idle as stated next.the base idle is 750 rpm set with a wire grounded to cut out the constant idle speed motor.by the battery near the fender is a blue 2 terminal connector you will need to ground the red wire and then turn the thumb screw to adjust the idle to 750rpm.
