Acura: Windshield crack, new insurance, insurance agent

Question
A rock from a loaded semi-truck hit my windshield and cracked it.  I wrote down all the information about the truck, time of incident and location.  Unfortunately, there was no phone number.  Now I`m trying to find a phone number to this truck company, Kirk`s Trucks.  It seems not to exist.  I just bought my car and had it for less than a week.  I`m not sure what to do.  I just got new insurance that very same day also and I`d rather not use them.  Do you know how I may go about getting reimbursed for the repairs or even to locate the company or owner of this truck?

Mark:

I'm sorry this is probably out of my line of knowledge.  I am not really sure how to tell you to handle this situation.  Was the truck you were behind a rock truck.  (was the load rock? or did the truck run over a rock and the rock was "kicked" up and hit your windshield?).  If the truck was loaded with rock, then I would think you would have a case against the truck company.  If the truck was loaded with something other than rock, and the rock was kicked up from the ground, then your probably out of luck.

Personally, I would contact my insurance agent and have them make a recommendation.  (For instance, I only pay $50 to get a windshield replaced, or he may help you pursue the truck company.)

I apologize that I can't give you a "cut and dry" answer.

What kind of Acura did you get?
