Buick/Olds: Le Sabre Engine Light, sabre engine, emmision

Today, my wife and I test drove two 97 Le Sabres. Both had the check engine light on. # 1 had 96 K miles and # 2 had 38 K miles. There were no problems with either car's operation. Both had muffler or exhaust faults. Is this something peculiar to the Le Sabre ? Is it a problem that has to be corrected ? Thanks.

It has nothing to do with being a Lesabre. It has to do with a problem in the emmision controls system and should be taken care of as soon as possible. There are thousands of things that can turn the light on. Sometimes it is very serious and sometimes its not, but either way it needs to be taken care of.
