Buick/Olds: 1995 Camaro A/C Low side?, r134a, exhaust manifold

Question
-Just wanted to give you a follow up... The line does run from the evaporator to the heater box, however the fitting is too large - so, I paid $58 and took it to the mechanic (waste of time?).  But at least I found out where the low side service port is...

It seems that on some of the camaro's (94-98) Chevrolet put the low side port all the way down by the exhaust manifold, it is actually between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe.  Here's the kicker... To service the low side you must first take the exhaust loose from the manifold while on a rack --- then start the car ---- then put the R134A into the low service port while having to deal with the heat and loudness of the exhaust while the pipe is loose and the engine running!!!

The mechanic did give me another option... Re-route the entire A/C system and install another service port (low side) where it would be much more easily accessible.

Total cost for the firt option = $864.38
Total cost for the second option = $1,237.23

I purchased this car new in 1995 for the sum of $19,500.  So, I phoned the dealer where I had purchased the car from... They also advised me that Chevrolet did make a mistake on 500 or so 1995 Camaro A/C systems, however there are no recalls on this.  I guess not enough of us have complained?

I certainly appreciate your time in answering my questions, if you have any other idea's - please let me know.

Thank you!

Question -
I would like to recharge my air conditioning system, however, I am not able to find the "low side" port.  I did locate a line that runs from the radiator to the heater box - that line has a fitting that looks correct to fit the hose that I bought to recharge the system.  I have searched online for instructions on how to do this on a 1995 Camaro 3.4L V6, but have come up empty handed.  If you could help, it would be most appreciated.
Answer -
If the line is going to the evaporator core in the heater box, then it is the low side fitting.

Answer
I was working in a Chevy dealer from 92-01 and I never had to remove any exhaust parts to service the AC on a Camaro. I left the Chevy dealer to go to a Pontiac dealer and I have never seen that on a Firebird either. But thanks for letting me know about it.
