Cadillac: engine overheating, cadillac deville concours, coolant system

you dont even have any ideas what it might be,like guessing wise,like you've never heard of this same situation?

I  JUST BOUGHT A 1994  CADILLAC DEVILLE CONCOURS  FROM A PRIVATE SELLER,IT HAS 73000 MILES ON IT,THE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE,SEEMED TO RUN GREAT WHEN I TEST DROVE IT. WELL I HAD PUT IT ON THE ROAD DROVE IT MAYBE 30 MINUTES WITH THE A/C ON FULL BLAST DUE TO IT WAS 90 DEGREES OUT,ANYWAYS ALL OF A SUDDEN  IT SAID A/C COMPRESSOR SHUT OFF,ENGINE OVERHEATED,STOP ENGINE AND THE CAR LOST JUST ABOUT ALL POWER BUT WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NOT GOING OVER 35MPH SO I BROUGHT IT TO PEP BOYS THEY PUT ON A MACHINE SAID HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN,SO I HAVE A BUDDY THAT WORKS ON NORTHSTAR ENGINES,AROUND HERE WHERE I LIVE A 4.6 NORTHJSTAR NOONE SEEMS TO WANT TO WORK ON,SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I BOUGHT THE GASKET KIT, AND BUDDY INSTALLED THE GASKETS,AND CLAIMS TO OF HAVE THE HEADS SENT OUT AND CHECKED,AND THEN ALL NEW OIL AND RADIATOR FLUID AND WAS ALL BACK IN TACT,NOW I STOPPED AT HIS HOUSE AND SAW THE ENGINE TORN APART AND I KNOW HE KNOWS WHAT HES DOING BUT I PICKED UP THE CAR DROVE IT 30 MINS AND HAD SAME PROBLEM,NOW IM REAL FED UP WITH THIS,CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

Without performing some tests of which your buddy should have done PRIOR to taking the engine apart, I really can't tell you what the problem could be.

The FIRST thing I would have done would have been to pressurize the coolant system and see if any bubbles could be seen in the radiator when the radiator cap was off and or the pressure gage started to drop in pressure. That would have given me an idea as to possible head gasket, cracked block or cracked head or heads BEFORE I tore the engine down.

Did your buddy put the GM TABLETS in the coolant system as this is a MUST do item.

Ask any parts place for these GM Cadillac tablets (pellets).
