Cadillac: 91 DeVille trunk wont shut at all...., trunk pull down, older models

Hi.
On my girlfriend's '91 Deville, the trunk latch just WILL NOT let it shut. I've tried using the remote opener {clicking it while pushing down on the trunk}, the same for the interior trunk button, and NOTHING!! Please Help? Anything has to be better than a black bungee cord holding it shut. Just in case, she hs told me that she "HAS NOT" hauled anything in the trunk that might have damaged it; although I know better. Is there any way to bypass replacing the latch? EVEN IF it means not being able to reopen the trunk.  Thanx,  ~Adom Lee~

You have 2 options:


1. replace the TRUNK PULL DOWN ASSEMBLY.


2. Convert the automatic pull down to a standard open and close trunk like the older models. You can but the CATCH and the LATCH at any junk yard
