Cadillac: Car wont start, spark plug wires, cadillac sedan deville

Here's my situation.  I drive a 1985 Cadillac sedan deville.  The engine turns over strong when the key is turned, but it just wont "catch".  I tried to spray starter fluid in the intake, but that didn't help anything.  I tried to jump it, but all that did was make the engine turn over a bit better.  A friend said that it might be the ignition module, but that he would need to take a look at it himself.  I guess I'm just trying to get a second opinion.

Can you physically SEE fuel being emitted into the intake manifold ?.

Are you getting ANY spark from the spark plug wires when your trying to start it ?.

I need to know WHICH one of the above you do NOT have.


Could be ignition module. Could be pickup coil. Could be ignition coil. Could be that the distributor is NOT turning when you are trying to start the engine. Could be lots of things.

Without seeing and testing components, Could be anything.
