Cadillac: transmission fuild line, cadillac seville, 1992 cadillac seville

Question
Hello Tom, recently I was traveling late Friday night and without any warning my car stopped moving while I was in drive. I got out and saw transmission fluid all over the street.I felt I had a broken line and I searched desperately for a mechcanic. Finally, I found one and had no choice but to let him repair it. I got home with no problem butnow,I have to wait about 7 to 10 mins for the car to get into gear after I am out of it for over an hour.He removed a small metal tube (which was split) and he replaced it with another. In your opinion did he bypass something? and how can I get it fixed? After the car gets into gear, it runs perfectly and I've never had any slippage with the tranny.By the way the car is a 1992 Cadillac Seville.    Thanks

Answer
NO, I do not believe he by-passed anything, He simply repaired the line.

the slippage is NORMAL due to the fluid loss of which causes burning of the internal clutches of the FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSING and or DRIVE HOUSING.

There is NOTHING you can do about it and once they are burnt, The ONLY professional and proper way to repair it is to have the transmission disassembled and the clutches and seals of the above said components replaced.

On RARE occassions, If you change the trans fluid and filter again and or have the trans professionally flushed you can sometimes improve the delay time but it is ONLY a temporary fix.

If the vehicle has high mileage and you plan on keeping it, I would STRONGLY suggest having the trans rebuilt or replacing it.
