Cadillac: cv shaft, e mail address, cv shaft

Question
After replacing the front struts on my 1998 Cadillac Deville, I hear a thump when turning.  This thump is also heard when turning the wheel with the car stopped. Could the alignment be so far out to cause this? The car did not make this noise before I replaced the struts, and this is the first time I have worked on replacing struts. I suspect I have damaged a cv joint, and wanted to ask what is involved in replacing the entire cv shafts if needed. Any other info would also be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan

Answer
This is noe reason that whenever you replace struts that you take a sharp pointed scribing instrument and scribe the outline of the strut where it mounts on the towers. This scribe mark allows you to put the new struts back into almost the EXACT position as the old stuts were.

It is possible that your noise is due to the front end being misaligned and the first thing I would suggest is that you have a WELL KNOWN REPUTABLE FACILITY perform a front end alignment and TELL the technician that you just replaced the struts so he/she can pay strict attention to any abnormalities while aligning the front end.

Yes, It is possible that the noise you are hearing is due to mis-alignment of the struts.

Next time, mark the struts position as stated above.
