Cadillac: SEAT BELTS, seat belt pads, seat belts

Question
I couldn`t find this as a catagory, but you may have an idea. I was recently involved in a head on crash in my 85 Seville. We did not go out the windshield but the seat belts did major damage to my wife. Do you think they could be padded or made to self inflate like an air bag ? Or something. I understand this is a common result in a crash wearing the belts. Is there a better way ?

Answer
As I always say, ANYTHING is possible, maybe someday something like exist, but probably unlikely.

Usually, you buy one of those seat belt pads that just velcros over and keeps the edge of the seatbelt from getting annoying.  I would think the best way would be to sew some MAJOR padding around the area that goes over the shoulder, but the stitching might weaken the seatbelt and may TEAR in case of another accident.

If you are the type of person who is worried about safety of vehicles and to the passenger than maybe getting one of those velcro over things and sewing MORE padding to that velcro thing might work very well.

Head on collisions rarely happen and usually NEVER happen to most people and the fact that you walked away alive should be enough overlook the  discomfort that occured from the belts.
You know how the world is, things could have been A LOT worse.

Well, that's just my two cents worth, but if you are really concerned about this I'd do what I mentioned above with the velcro over pad.

Well, I'm glad both of you walked away alive, anyway the car can always be repaired, junked, or replaced, lives can't.
