Chevrolet: 96 cavalier, fuel pump, fuel filter

Question
I have a 96 cavalier that wont rev up when idling. I replaced the fuel pump at mechanics request but the problem didnt go away. No power when stepping on the gas, no I am out 250 bucks, please help!

Answer
Alice,
Before the fuel pump was replaced, I would have changed the fuel filter. If the car was running, it probably wasn't the fuel pump. Generally when they go, they go all the way and the car won't even start. It sounds to me like you have a plugged fuel filter. The ther thing that could cause this is a plugged exhaust. Sometimes when a catalytic converter goes bad it will collapse inside and cause the same problem. I would check out these two things first... But I wouldn't go back to the same guy that replaced the fuel pump.
