Chevrolet: engine, ca emissions, fifth digit

Question
I have a 73 Z28 / rs camaro and I am looking for an original engine. were can I possible find a original engine

Answer
John,
    Well, finding the engine is kind of a toss up. You could run into one just about anywhere, from junk yards to private parties. First take a look at the VIN on the car and make sure the fifth digit is a T. If so, then you have a real z-28. If it's not a T, it is a regular camaro dressed up to be a z. If it is a T, then you are looking for a 350 cid from 1973 with engine suffix codes of CLL, CLJ, CLM, OR CLK, depending on the options yours came with.
CLL= auto tranny, CA emissions.
CLK= auto tranny, non CA emissions.
CLM= manual tranny, CA emissions.
CLJ= manual tranny, non-CA emissions.
   Engine casting codes should be Auto: 7043212, Manual: 7043213. Hope this helps, Good Luck!
