Chevrolet: can you help, chevy caviler, medium thickness

i have a 2000 chevy caviler. my starter started making the going out noise. so i put a new starter in it will i put 3 new starters in the car. something is not letting them come out and hit the fly wheele i also changed the starter rela on it and still sounds like it was the first time i tryed i dont understand please help if you can. oh and all the teath are on the fly wheele so that not it ether. tahnks

    A lot of your problem with the starter may be cused by the starter being too close to the block, and by proxy too close to the flywheel. I would suggest getting some shims and start with a medium thickness and go larger if it still hits the flywheel. The shims go in between the starter and the block, and move the starter away from the flywheel. Due to tooling, casting and machining differences, unfortunately not all starters are the same as the factory one. Try it out, and if it doesn't work let me know, but I think that will fix your problem.
